ANNETTE TREACY
Artist Statement
My practice is rooted in the act of playing with material and process, embracing both formal play and intuitive exploration. Through a balance of improvisation and structure, I engage with the possibilities of surface and materiality, allowing the work to evolve dynamically.
Colour plays a central role in my approach, not only as a visual element but as a means of generating spatial and emotional resonance. I am particularly interested in the boundaries of painting and how these can be pushed through an expanded painting practice. My work explores the tension between control and spontaneity, where the act of making itself becomes an open dialogue between intention and chance.
By engaging with these ideas, my practice seeks to challenge traditional definitions of painting, offering new ways to experience and interact with the medium.
